MY HOTEL CHOICES: POD 51 – NEW YORK CITY

I also figured the hotel would be pretty close to Time Square – ”Perfect!” I thought.

When I finally got to the hotel after travelling all day long I was SO tired. I had absolutely no idea what to expect from the hotel and I was afraid of the rooms being ugly, dark and all kinds of bugs running around. (Haha, always expecting the worst right.)

Fortunately the reality ended up being the opposite of my nightmares. The employees were very friendly and helpful. My room indeed was very very small, but just perfect for me. It was white, clean, modern and the view from the window was pretty nice as well! I fell in love with the hotel right away. The plan was to only sleep at the hotel after spending the days by exploring the beautiful city so the hotel offered me just what I needed: a perfect little room to sleep in and a private shower. Apparently they also have rooms where you share a bathroom, but I didn’t feel like taking my shower anywhere where there’s a chance of a stranger walking in on me.

I think the only minuses where that the hallways of the hotel where kinda dark since there where no windows. Luckily people normally don’t spend much time in the hallways so I guess this one doesn’t really matter that much. Another thing was that the hotel wasn’t as close to Time Square as I thought it would be. Actually from my point of view it was pretty far away. I mean I did walk to Time Square, Central Park and many other places, but let me tell you: that was A LOT of walking and at some point my feet just could not do it anymore. I thought I would be unstoppable, but I have to admit that I wish I had paid a bit more to stay at a hotel right by Time Square. It would have been a lot easier especially since I was in the city for only a couple of days. However, the area where POD 51 is located at is still pretty nice in my opinion AND Whole Foods is right around the corner! Also I heard that the restaurant in the hotel has some great burgers.

All in all: I enjoyed my stay. I would recommend POD 51 if you’re looking for a nice, basic hotel which is not crazy expensive.
